Hello guys,

It's 26th Nov but I haven't decide the school yet, so I really need some helps.
Here's my profile
Vietnamese male, 23 years old
Education: Biotech, pharmaceuticals and agriculture (3 years program at French-Vietnamese university). The program is equivalent to a normal 4 years program.
GMAT: 710 (50Q-34V), one cancelled. Not planing on retake, but will if fail the application this year.
GPA: 13/20 (Bologna scale) (not sure when converted to 4.0 scale, maybe 3/0/4.0, I'm asking for a transcript from the university)

Working exp: 2 years (3 years by the enrollment time):
Bulk Quality Control Junior at a Vaccine manufacturing company (6 months).
Senior Technical Support department at a Medical devices company (14 months).
Currently working on a Tech start up (I am the co-founder) in developing novel culturing reactor for various algae species (start immediately after leaving the previous job).
Currently (part-time) working with another small business group (design and marketing services) as an adviser (human resource and sale).

Career goal: Working in healthcare sector, mainly distributing pharmaceutic related products (medicine, supplements, medical devices or other biotech related product). Immediate goal is to work in a small to medium size company in the US for 3-4 years so that I can learn how to run a small healthcare business, and then come back to my country and start a business on my own (I got plan for this). Long time goal is to expand my current business in manufacturing algae and to run a new business (as mentioned) in Vietnam.

Schools on the list: Mays , Smeal, Naveen, Hamsler, Simon, Warrington (UF).
Target: 50% scholarship to full tuition waiver. (A primary objective in choosing school)

I acknowledge that I got relatively weak profile (normal working experience and low GPA), but I do want to complete my MBA as soon as possible due to several personal reasons. I really need evaluation on my profile and my chance of getting the targeted scholarship in targeted schools. I don't really mind about the ranking of the schools (But they should be at least ranked and not too inferior). Any recommendation on applying other schools that offer generous scholarship is really helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, and thanks for writing! What type of role within pharmaceutical/healthcare are you looking for? I wasn't quite clear from your description. To narrow down a list of schools, I would consider which specific companies you're targeting, and then see which schools potentially have a relationship with these companies. Geography is a significant factor here, since a lot of companies recruit at schools within their region. You're right that for a lot of programs, your work experience and GPA will be a bit low, though your GMAT is on target for the schools you've listed.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I have just got good news today from my undergraduate university that my GPA is equivalent to 3.67 which is pretty sound to apply, but they are not sure that I can have an official transcript in 4.0 point scale. It may take some times to do the transcript, but it seems to be positive. For the job title, I would like to work as a strategic adviser in healthcare/pharmaceutical sector. The job could be in a consulting firm specialized in healthcare/pharmaceutical industry or in a healthcare/pharmaceutical company. I don't have a name in my mind now, but I would probably find it soon, but as I mentioned, I actually put my priority on scholarship, so I might want to go to school that offers more generous scholarship, not the school that has good connection with a company in healthcare industry. However, I will work on finding the company I may want to work for.
I think my academic is pretty solid now (good GPA and GMAT), so what can I do to improve my application since my exp is not that competitive.
