Hey All,
I got accepted to MS Business Analytics programs at a target school last year but could not pursue them due to how Covid affected my family's financial situation(lost jobs etc) and the uncertainty that followed(thus no deferral).
I am going to be re-applying and have the university graciously cloned my application; so that I only need to update relevant information, give an additional recommender and a re-applicant essay.
I need advice on how to approach the re-applicant essay and the overall application:
1-Im inclined on keeping all old essays as is because my reason and goals havent changed since nor why I want to be enrolled at that specific uni.
2-For re-applicant essay, I'm going to explain why I couldnt attend, then give an overview of what i've been upto the past year(how I improved myself and did at work), 300words max. Sounds fair?
3- Any other advice for me being in this situation to follow. I HAVE to get in again its my dream school.

That is definitely the right approach to the re-applicant essay. You can add a line or two about your continued interest in the program and name any actions you have taken to continue to express that interest.
Did the program admissions committee say anything in particular when they denied you a deferral and you told them you could not attend? Is there an individual admissions committee member that you engaged with during that process? You may want to send a note to flag that you are reapplying now that you are in a position to attend.
If everything else is unchanged for the most part, you should definitely keep it in all intact. Unfortunately for so many people, they have been in holding patterns this year so you're not alone.
