I took my GMAT back in July, and scored on the lower 20% of most top 15-45 ranked schools. I have a decent GPA and some alright experience as a financial analyst for a couple different corporations. Anyways, I have still received emails/mail packets from several schools that saw my profile/results on mba.com (some sort of search service they use, I assume). Some of them even indicate I fit the bill as a "preferred candidate". Should I put weight into this?
I honestly ruled my self out of some of these schools, but they are in fact sending me information. I would hate to apply to programs when I stand little to no shot (these applications aren't cheap!) So yes, bottom line, should I put a lot of credibility in receiving these informative emails/mailings from mba programs, or are they simply just doing marketing in a sense?
Some of the schools sending me info are Northwestern, Kelley, Notre Dame, UNC, etc.
