Hello!,

I'm applying round 2 for 2020 and will get a promotion with new roles & responsibilities on Jan. 6th, days before the application is due.
What is the appropriate way to show this experience on a resume?

Thanks

Hi whippedcream123,

as you may know, MBA resumes are more focused on accomplishments than on responsibilities. Therefore, given that by the time of the application is due, you won't have had the time to accomplish much, I would not use a separate section for your new role. Instead, I would combine it with your previous one.

For example, let's say you are promoted from Analyst to Senior Analyst, I would do something like the following.

COMPANY A, New York, NY
Senior Analyst (2020 - Present), Analyst (20XX - 2019)

In the bullet points, you can talk about the size of the team you now lead, the budget you now manage, etc... as Senior Analyst. In case of an early promotion, you could also mention it.

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much.

Warm regards
Alex
