I have a quick question about recommendations.
I'm under the impression that recommenders are there to talk about your intelligence, character, business skill, academic achievements, and ability to succeed in graduate study.
That being said, is it fair to assume that they don't need to go into a whole lot of detail about your planned studies and future goals? That's what your essay is for, right?
I ask this because I'll be applying to a slightly different program at each school (all business-oriented programs, just some differences in concentration and degree). I plan on slightly altering my essays accordingly. However, I would feel uncomfortable asking my recommendation writers to go through the trouble of slightly altering my goals for each school (especially since it would be very easy for one of them to make a mistake and accidentally leave something in that belonged with another school).
So is it okay to have my writers focus exclusively on my qualities as an applicant and not talk about my planned studies?

why does recommender have to say anything about you goals...thats your job!
you wont have any issues if they dont discuss your goals. On another note why take the chance of complicating things for them which could maybe lead to a mistake. If your reco letter told a healthcare management program you wanted go into consulting i the private sector i assume you'd be dead meat right there.
Clear answer to your question.... YES, in fact it is preferred if they only speak to your ability...thats honestly the only thing they can talk about! On another note i would make sure they dont say anything about YOUR OWN goals....not the place.
