I just took my first practice test and got 460 27Q and 26V. I need to get 700+ and have 6 months to study. I want to self study, I'm planning to buy the office GMAT guide bundle and thinking about the Manhattan quant and verbal strategy set. Is this enough material? Is there a better book set? Am I crazy for not getting an online program? What would you recommend for online prep if so? Any help would be great

I think you can try to self-study for one month then take another trial test. If you have better result, your schedule seems fine for you. The score should increase about 40 - 60 points for 1st month, I suppose.

Hi,

The best thing is you have enough time to reach your dream score. Your score is not at all bad as a first timer, though 700+ score can only be scored with determination and proper planning. You have good bunch of material with you to score high, but IMO for 700+ you will need something more than prep material. I would suggest you to start with self study for a month or two and gauge your level and improvement. After that you can think of prep courses if you like. Almost all the test prep companies are good with material, but I would recommend Empowergmat, Magoosh, or Manhattan. Use GMAT club resources to your advantage.

Hi Kenzie243, with a 27 Q, I would suggest you might want to consider looking out for a private Quant instructor at your place, who can actually sit along with you and see where exactly are the conceptual flaws that need to be plugged in.
