I just took my first practice test and got 460 27Q and 26V. I need to get 700+ and have 6 months to study. I want to self study, I'm planning to buy the office GMAT guide bundle and thinking about the Manhattan quant and verbal strategy set. Is this enough material? Is there a better book set? Am I crazy for not getting an online program? What would you recommend for online prep if so? Any help would be great

Kenzie243,
Official GMAT and
Manhattan books are good and reliable source.
In general that should be enough since Manhattan covers all topics, in terms of theory and basics you will be set.
Also practice questions from Manhattan are known to be top quality and Official ones are the best on market, simply because they come from actuall creators of the test, as retired questions from previous tests.
Is there a better book set ?
Veritas is praised here often on Gmat Club and they are on same level in terms of quality as Manhattan, just every company has slightly different teaching style and you will discover which one is most suitable for you.
Every person comes from different background and can have different starting point so some prep company books are more tailored for different audience.
That being said, some people find Manhattan teaching style to be harder and cumbersome than others, for instance Kaplan and Princeton.
On the other hand it is common opinion that Kaplan and Princeton are more suitable for starters and not much of use for harder questions drills.
I suggest you to go step by step and dont rush.
Cover fisrt basics and easier questions then move to harder.
Now, are you crazy for not taking online course ?
No

But, nobody can predict in advance are books are going to be enough for him, although they do cover all necessary and are sufficient.
Some people just work better with online videos, online practice questions, their guidelines and study plans.
If you during your prep feel urge to try them or you are not sastfied with your progress you can always start trial version to see does it works for you.
Regarding recommendation for online course I suggest you to read their reviews here and pick 2-3 the most and give it a try with free trial version.
If cost is not an issue you will easilly find the best ones

Manhattan has online courses also and I can recommended it since I am familiar with the product, if you decide that their books do the trick for you.
Good luck and happy prep !
