Hi all, I was planning on taking the GMAT a few years ago and life suddenly got in the way. Now, I'm at the point in time where the MBA is in my very near future. While I've felt massive improvement in other areas, the difficult sentence correction questions always seem to get to me.
I've been using MGMAT's SC guide for my preparation which I have found most excellent. However, in the 3 MGMAT CATs I've taken, I've consistently struggled with the 700 plus level questions in sentence correction. I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a good 3rd party source for difficult (700+) sentence correction questions? So far, all I've really looked at are questions in the Official Guide 2016/Official Verbal Review.
I feel that doing as many questions as possible in a test like setting will be the best way for me to see where I am consistently erring as well as being good practice for the actual exam date.
Also, I had a few other related questions:
1) For those who've used MGMAT CATs: I've seen a few rumblings about people finding the verbal section on the MGMAT CATs as being easier/shorter than the questions on the actual exam. Is this a fairly common consensus among people? If I'm already struggling with questions that are actually easier than what I'll likely see on exam day, that's certainly a bit disconcerting.
2) For those who've used GMAT Club Verbal Tests: I've seen a lot of people speak glowingly about the GMAT Club Quant Tests but haven't seen as much effusive praise for the Verbal Tests. For those that have used them, did you find them valuable? I'm likely going to take the plunge and purchase these tests soon, but hoping to keep my costs as low as possible. If these tests alone are sufficient for what I need, I'd be thrilled to not have to use any other sources...
3) For the difficult SC questions, do people find that taking additional time on the questions helps? All three of the MGMAT CATs I've taken (in actual test-like conditions), I've finished with 10-15 minutes remaining at the end of each one. I tend to be a slower test taker so I've been emphasizing speed on all of my CATs.
For reference, the Verbal scores I've gotten on my 3 MGMAT CATs are a: V31, V35, V38 in that order. I felt that the V31 was definitely not indicative of my true level, 35 was probably right about where my level should be right now, and the 38 was probably a score I could currently not achieve consistently at this time.
The only additional material I've found that I plan on using are collections of SC questions made by GMAT Club User Carcass. Other than that, I could use all the advice/guidance I can get. I am really, really, hoping to crack the V40 barrier on exam day (and am dreaming of scoring 42-44). I am tentatively planning to take the actual exam in a month or two, but have all the way into the summer months, if need be. Apologies for the long post and many thanks in advance!

Hi all, Just wanted to bump/update. My wild inconsistency on the verbal section has continued after taking two GMATPrep tests. I have yet to review the incorrect answers, but I am sure that the main issue lies with sentence correction. I got a V30 (dishearteningly low) on the first test, and a V38 on the second tests with no intermittent practice/studying in between. It's really frustrating, as my quant scores have now become pretty consistent (although I still have room for improvement there, too) but my verbal scores are all over the place. Any advice/insight as to the best resources for practicing with difficult sentence correction questions would be much appreciated!
After reviewing my two GMATPrep exams, I plan on doing the following:
1) Re-read Manhattan Sentence Correction 2) Do some o the "tough" questions sets posted by a few users on GMAT Club for Sentence Correction 3) After doing the above, I will try my hand at VeritasPrep exams which I am hoping to get free access to (FYI, Veritas is currently offering 7 free exams if you submit an official GMAT score OR submit a screen capture of a GMATPrep practice exam taken within the past two weeks!) 4) Either Reset my GMATPrep scores and try those exams again, or buy Question Pack #1 and get additional to two new GMATPrep exams and see how I fare on those
I am hoping that after doing the above, I can really start to see some consistent and improved Verbal scores, especially as it pertains to Sentence Correction. Thanks in advance for the help!
