Agree with the point of view above- let your recommender write and explain the mistake

Hey dloren4
In the grand scheme of things, I don't think this will be the thing that keeps you out of b-school. What's more important is the strength of your overall profile. Have the recommender email admissions and explain it. Ask them to confirm receipt of the email just so you know that they've got it.
Hope that helps!

One of my recommenders said he messed up. He said I started working for the company January 2018 when I started June 2016. It is the only job I've had out of college. He said he had only talked about my work experience since January 2018 which is when he became my manager. I feel like it might not look good when an adcom sees my resume saying I started work in 2016 but he said January 2018. Should I call the schools and ask to allow him to fill the recommendations out again?

This is not a huge deal. The recommender can just reach out to admissions to clarify the typo. The process can be stressful but don't lose sleep over this. Good luck!

Best,
Scott

Let your recommender handle this-- you don't want to look like you have your hands in the stew here.... so just have the recommender reach out to adcom in an email and mention that in reviewing the rec he realized he wrote about the time he has been your manager and neglected to correct the part that you have been with the firm since x date. That should do it. Don't stress about it. It is not going to be the deciding factor in anything. Just have the mistake corrected so there is a note in the file for when someone is doing the review if they have a question on that point.

For most schools you have to sign or not sign a privacy disclosure that you are ok with not seeing your recommendation prior to submission. If you have signed this document then YOU should not reach out directly to flag this mistake. Instead have your recommender reach out to admission sharing the mistake and asking best way to resolve this mistake. You don’t want to seem like you had any over-involvement in the crafting of the recommendations

Hi dloren4,

It is best that your recommender writes to the Admissions Committee offering a clarification for the mistake. Assuming you would have waived your right to view the recommendation, it is not recommended that you call the school.

Don't worry too much about this, though.

All the best! :)
