Hi Hjort,
I applied to col in ED,however few days back my status changed to 'reconsider later'. is my app weak or there are too many stellar applicants with similar profile. How many ppl are accepted with this status?
Any advice to differentiate myself is appreciated.

"Reconsider Later" essentially defers the admit/reject decision to the regular admissions cycle. I would interpret it as CBS thinks that you are a viable candidate but not strong enough in terms of your admissions file and/or your "fit" with the school to be accepted in the early cycle. Delaying a decision on your candidacy allows CBS to compare you against the regular admissions pool.
Evaluate your application with a critical eye to identify shortcomings. Was your GMAT weak? Were your LORs prepared by trusted people?
If you have not already done so, contact the admissions office and ask them to explain what the status means and what type of additional information you can send them.

One of the Berkeley Supplementary questions ask "explain any gaps in your professional career after university studies "
In my near 10 year experience, I've had 6 week gap in my 3rd year, (voluntarily quit for unequal opportunity at work) and 4 months gap in my 7th year(voluntarily quit for need of break and change of industry ). Some of my friends say that I needn't explain the first one. What's your opinion? Thanks.
