Hi all,
I'm a bit confused about the use of 'that' in the sentence below..Could someone please explain? Thanks.
That some fraternal twins resemble each other greatly while others look quite dissimilar highlights an interesting and often overlooked feature of fraternal-twin pairs, namely that they vary considerably
I read some stuff about the basic usages of 'that', but I don't think they apply
a) as a demonstrative adjective
b) as a demonstrative pronoun
c) as a subordinate conjunction
d) as a relative pronoun

The example you've cited is one in which Noun clause is the subject of the sentence.
Since Noun clause is a dependent clause, "that" acts as a subordinating conjunction.

When a sentence starts with 'that,' you can pretty much always add in 'the fact that' to help understand the meaning.
