Regional MBA Prograqms

Question

MBA Applicants should not dismiss the vast education opportunities presented by "regional" MBA programs. There are many quality schools offering programs at the regional level. These programs generally do not attempt to be Harvard, Chicago, or Stanford but do provide a fuctional, practical introduction to business. In addition, the regional schools often have strong connections with local business that even the most esteemed schools thousands of miles away cannot match. 

Regional MBA programs are often provided by relatively small private colleges and the more vocational/practice oriented state colleges. 

I would like to open the floor to discussions of these programs . . .

For someone who is very interested in working in the video game industry, which is mostly in California, would a regional school like UC Irvine or Davis be a good choice? Or do entertainment-related companies only want people from the top 3 California schools?

I don't have an interest in Stanford, UCLA or UC Berkeley (I wouldn't get in anyways). USC is the only other school that I have a "fit" for at the moment in CA.

I would also take a look at schools in the Silicon Valley such as San Jose and Santa Clara to see what type of contacts they have with the industry.

i was reading a post on the forums on businessweek.com the other day about regional schools in the south/ southeast. the thread mainly discussed UNC vs Duke, UNC vs. Emory etc. how would you rate the following schools i know DUke is considered more of a hybrid between a national and a regional program. what about UNC and Emory. i read that Emory is on a mission to get into the top 10 on businesweek ranklist and usnewsworld report as well in the next 2 yrs. they are already spending a lot of money on scholarships and aid as well as upgrading their facilities. they are also have the 8th biggest undergrad endowment in the country. all comments about the above mentioned schools are welcome. cheers :beer

I would consider Duke to be a national/international school. I would still consider UNC and Emory to be nationally recognized schools although they are strongest in the South.
