bb Thanks for the update!

A client had an exam scheduled for April 4th, and also just added one for April 11th, so it appears that you can schedule them within 16 days of each other, since the systems are separate.
But does anyone know for sure whether this is not actually allowed? The current policy page still says they must be 16 days apart. bb mcelroytutoring AndrewN, any thoughts?

Note: for those who want to reschedule an online exam for after the 8th, the official FAQ gives the following instructions:

"If you schedule an online appointment prior to April 8 and would like to reschedule to an exam appointment on or after April 8, you will need to cancel your original online appointment, and reach out to our Customer Care team to receive a voucher to book your new GMAT™ online appointment on or after April 8 at a reduced registration fee."
Yes, I agree with bb. To my knowledge, the situation will be treated the same way as the one between taking an Online Exam and a regular one at a test center: the sixteen-day restriction does not apply. I will let you know if I find out any differently, though in all honesty, I imagine bb would know first. (As an aside, it will be interesting to see what kind of intel your client can provide between the two tests, whether one seems easier or more difficult than the other.)

Thank you for thinking to ask.

- Andrew

Just for the record, I am simply making a logical assumption. My statement is not based on any official information 😂

Yes, I assumed as much (about your own assumption). I have had clients who have taken the Online Exam, not gotten the desired result*, and then rushed to take the test again at a center (or vice-versa), and they did not have to wait 16 days between administrations. That was the point I was hoping to make. And yes, I think you would know about an official stance on the matter before I would, unless I happened to see the news plastered on the front page of my browser as soon as I got my computer up and running in the morning. (Even then, you might beat me with your phone, or if you are a night owl.)

* I feel the need to add that this initial result is typically achieved PRIOR to working with me.

Sorry for being late to respond...I just bought a house in Colorado! Saying that the home-buying process is paperwork-heavy when you're self-employed is...an understatement.

Anyway, the honest answer is that I have no idea whether it's possible to take the Pearson Vue version of the GMAT online, and then the Examity version of the GMAT online within fewer than 16 days. However, I do know that the GMAT scheduling system will historically lock you out of whatever's not possible.

In other words, if you can schedule the exam through your MBA.com account, then it's allowed. (Fair warning: this is not necessarily the case for the ETS and the GRE.)

My advice: at this point, why not register for the new Examity version of the GMAT online, starting 4/8/21? The select section order option and instant scoring are well worth the wait, whether or not an ESR option eventually arrives.

I think in this case, your client will probably be able to take the test without waiting for 16 days because these are two separate systems and will likely have two different question banks. They will likely start the new question bank on 8 April.

bb just for peace of mind, I wanted to check, is there any chance that you've heard any official updates/confirmations on this?

Thanks very much!

mcelroytutoring Congrats on your house!

Yes, that makes sense, thanks! You can indeed schedule both online exams within less than 16 days of each other, so it appears to be allowed.

Update: apparently, the enhanced (new) GMAT Online exam will not be ready on April 8th.

GMAC promises to send an update on the new release date on April 20th.
