Hi all,
I have recently been accepted to Simon and University of Illinois with 60% and 100% scholarship. I applied in the last round for both schools. I'm planning on rejecting both offers and re-studying for the GMAT to get a 700+ score. I'm targeting schools ranked between the 10th to 20th for next year. Mainly ones in NY, such as Cornell, NYU, and Columbia. My goal is to work in the Finance industry in either consulting or some sort of banking at one of the best firms in the world such as Goldman, Bain & Co, Barclays.....
A little about me:
• GMAT score: 650
• Q: 49, 75th Percentile
• V: 30, 59th Percentile
• Undergraduate Degree in Finance from University of Houston
• Undergraduate GPA: 3.685
• Work Experience: 3 Years in corporate finance -> good resume. Lots of projects accomplished.
• Age: 26
• No Volunteering or extracurricular activity or experience
•No kids, wife, girlfriend, or pet.
I took the GMAT after 2.5 months of studying. About 2-3 hours a day. I used the 2018-OG book and Manhattan fifth edition prep books. I finished all Manhattan strategy guides except the SC one, and I believe that's where most of my mistakes came from. I also didn’t have a lot of practice with 650+ level questions and only took 2 practice exams prior to sitting for the exam.
What I'm planning to do this time:
• My work hours are extremely flexible for the next few months and I'm taking a lot of days off.
• I plan on studying 4 hours a day for the GMAT + 2 hours of reading challenging material such as the Economist, and the MIT Scientific Review.
• Purchasing the Manhattan 6th edition prep books strategy guides and will not rush through any of the sections that I find difficult this time.
• Purchasing 2018-OG book, as well as the GMAT 2018 OG Quantitative and Verbal Review books to gain more practice with 650+ level questions.
• Plan on following a healthy diet and sleeping schedule, while exercising 3-5 times a week. Mainly cardio and yoga.
• Meditating every day for at least 20 minutes either in the morning or before going to bed.
That covers it. Now the questions:
• What do you all think about my plan? How realistic is it?
• Should I just start at Simon or University of Illinois this year? How bad is it to wait an additional year? I’m currently 26.
• My goal is to take the GMAT late Aug. or early Sep. Am I giving myself enough time to get ready? The application deadline for round 1 is more or less around Oct. 15th.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Getting selected with such huge scholarships in the last round at two schools itself is an accomplishment.
Here are my suggestions:
1. But considering your profile, I would prefer waiting for an year and push your GMAT Score to above 700.
2. Your age is also not a problem. Most of the schools have an average age requirement of 27-29 and your age will be a great fit next year.
3. Try to get some volunteer experience in the next couple of months.
4. Include Official and Manhattan Mocks in your study plan. Rest of the plan seems good.
5. If you give exam by late Aug and early September, you will have sufficient time to hit R1 applications of most of the top US schools.
