A is wrong, it wasn't "renegade institution at its founding"
B - decision wasnt made at its founding
D- same as B
E-same as B

No offense, but just calling an answer choice "weird" without explaining the grammatical error it has is .. hmmmm ... a little weird !

In Swagatalakshmi's defense, I would have gone for C as well on this one.

But, after two more minutes of thought (which you may not have in your GMAT sitting) and looking at the posts... I can see why D is the better choice.

Spamming? I also would have picked the wrong answer here, and part of me does not understad D even if it is grammatically correct.

Defenestrate, My comment about Spamming is not for picking correct or wrong anwers. It was intended to people who dont participate positively in a discussion and discourage others with their negative criticism.

Be nice and supportive. I have zero tolerance for members who do not show respect. If someone's post offends you, write to the moderators or myself.

Do not expect too much from anyone. If someone is willing to spend time explaining something, be grateful for that. If someone does not, they dont owe anyone anything. To be sure, I personally prefer that all of you attempt to explain your answer choices. Explaining your answer choices will help you regardless of whether you answer is correct or not.

To stay away from such unnecessary discussions, please try to avoid posting in a thread if you cannot help the author of the thread.
Members are also advised to only post one question in a thread.
