Dear counsellor,
Could you please give me your feedback regarding my MBA targets :
Objective (i still need to think and be more precise) : get into a full-time MBA in the US from Sept. 2015 in order to
- either keep working as a management consultant but with more international opportunities and with more business insight
- or take part to the international development of luxury retail (especially in emerging countries such as brazil)
Background : French male / currently 25 years old (targets to get into an MBA program in Sept. 2015 / class of 2017)
Education :
- studied in a french "classe preparatoire" to prepare for competitive exams to get into top business schools
- got into the HEC Grande Ecole program (best bschool in France, 1st European business school according to quite a few rankings)
- i hold a Master in Science of Management and a Master in International Management (through a double-degree program between HEC and CEMS)
- GPA : 3,4 / GMAT : 720 (Q49 V38)
- languages : french / english / german / portuguese
Work experience :
- full-time intern at Ernst&Young (6 months) and L'Oréal (Marketing coordination, 6 months)
- currently consultant (junior consultant then now consultant) in a french strategy consulting firm (2 years now, 4 years by Sept. 2015)
Other experiences :
- participated to a 6000km-charity rally in morocco
- part of an HEC delegation at an international student conference in dubai in 2009
- as of Sept. 2013, member of an organization that helps children who experience social difficulties
Given these information, i would like to know more precisely which schools in the US i can reasonably expect to join, and I would be more than happy to get any of your feedback concernant my future application.

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing your profile. Overall you are well-positioned to have a shot at top-ranked MBA programs, IF you can successfully explain what makes YOU unique and what you'll contribute to the class that others will not, as well as how important it is that you obtain an MBA from this particular school.
With your GMAT, adequate GPA, lots of academic experience, consulting experiences, languages and international experiences, you have a lot of important components that work for you in your application. You should have a shot at US programs ranked approx 15-25+ for sure (see US News rankings for example), and with successfully creating OUTSTANDING essays that demonstrate what I mentioned in the first paragraph, a chance at schools ranked 5-15 or so as well. It is difficult for anyone to get into Stanford and Harvard given how many amazing applicants there are, so those will always be a reach. But first and foremost, you need to do some school research and determine what YOU are looking for and narrow your options down, consider geographical region, class size, class profiles, hiring profiles, teaching philosophy, curriculum, diversity, etc. For some more tips on choosing schools, check out our free e-book on that topic at https://info.mbamission.com/Selecting-Yo ... ram-E-Book.
The two biggest potential challenges or weaknesses that I see for you at this point are:
1) Ability to stand out from the top applicants at the most competitive programs (as many will have similarly-qualified profiles); focus on what is UNIQUE and interesting about you, your traits, and your experiences.
2) Potential question about whether you NEED another MBA after your other Masters degrees; don't want to begin to look like a 'degree-collector'
. Must carefully make the case for why you need this degree.
