GPA: 3.69 Dartmouth, Major in Government, Minor in History
Nationality: US Citizen, Korean-American
Sex: Male
Age: 28
Work Experience:
1. Law firm [Top tier boutique but not AM100]
-2.5 years as a corporate paralegal at working on Venture capital <--> Startup deals (promoted once)
2. Venture Capital Firm [Current Role] [Top 10, old firm with high AUM but not as well known as Sequoia/AH]
-2.5 years as a project manager in a finance/strategy/IR role (promoted once)
Extracurriculars:
-Board of directors (one of 8) of regional alumni association(~1000 members), also young alumni chair
-Leadership/philanthropy role in college fraternity
-Intramural Soccer post-college
-1.5 years as a Sushi chef at family’s restaurant during weekends during law firm role
Post-MBA goal:
-MC: Helping companies face problems during growth has been an overarching theme for both of my positions. I would like to continue this further in a more hands-on fashion and also work with companies of a larger size, and I think MC would offer that opportunity.

-Given my somewhat non-traditional work trajectory, is MC a reasonable goal and does it make sense?
-Although I work at a VC firm, my role is more strategy/IR and less pure investing (I do some financial modeling but mostly for financing terms). Will I be lumped in with the finance crowd and is there a way to avoid that?
-Is my list of schools realistic? Are there any schools strong in MC that I'm missing?
-What would you say is the weakest part of my profile?

Thanks for your post. So it sounds like all sounds good in terms of your GMAT and GPA; your work experience as you've assessed is a bit less typical/traditional but you can still likely aim to showcase the experiences you've had, what you've learned over your career, and the perspective you'll bring to the class through using stories and anecdotes of your professional accomplishments. You can focus those stories and anecdotes as you see fit, if you'd like to downplay finance for example etc. My feeling would be the that MC is a potential option, but I also encourage you to research and do your due diligence so to speak... consider setting up informational interviews with various MC firms, speak with someone in HR and/or consultants and get direct feedback on your past and how that plus the MBA will be perceived, etc. You can potentially even touch on that (discussions you've had, research you've done) as you discuss your career vision in MBA interviews, food for thought. In terms of schools, HBS & GSB are going to be a reach for just about everyone, given that they accept about 11 and about 6% respectively!! So they turn away PLENTY of qualified applicants.... just know that going in. The other schools will hopefully consider you, if you are able to show what you'll bring to the class and who you are as a person. In terms of other options that are strong for consulting, there's also Columbia, Ross, Wharton... Fuqua....
