Demographics: Indian, Male
Education: Law Graduate (Amity Law School, Delhi - IP University)
GPA 4.0
Work Experience
GMAT: Haven’t taken yet but please refer to this post (https://gmatclub.com/forum/going-above- ... s#p3086166) in which I’ve outlined my mock scores (Quants range 39-42; Verbal range 36-44)
ECA: Quarter finalist at 2 major Moot Court Competitions in India; Member of Legal Aid Cell etc.
Post-MBA Goals: Join a Private Equity or Venture Capital firm -> Subsequently open my own VC firm to invest in startups aimed at quality of life improvements in developing countries
Target Schools: ISB Hyderabad, Cambridge, Oxford, University of Manchester, INSEAD, HEC, ESADE, SDA Bocconi, IMD Switzerland and NUS.
Additional info: I plan to take GMAT twice this year (November and December resp.) and assess my position thereafter. Would ideally like to join a college where 3 years of work ex is more than enough prior to start of said college.
Specific questions:
1. How much does my ability (or lack thereof) in quants impact my profile?
2. Is a 700+ score an absolute necessity with such a profile? And if not, do I need more work ex to have a chance to get into one of them with a lower score?
Would be incredibly grateful if I could receive some information from you guys. Thank you!

Founder of a not-for-profit org. Aimed at making philosophy accessible to under-priveleged youths in India and carrying out charity drives (clothes, books, games etc.) for them

Thanks for reaching out to us at mbaMission with your profile. Your work exp sounds really interesting, albeit on the shorter side. PE and VC are seen as competitive post-MBA fields and ones where your pre-MBA experience is pretty important, so that could definitely present a challenge in your application. The non-profit work and ECAs all sound great; nice that you have those to round out your profile. On the academic side, obviously, your GPA is strong and I see that you're working on your GMAT. From what you shared on your mocks, it does seem like quant is a weakness especially if you are targeting some of those top programs like INSEAD and post-MBA roles that require analytical skills - due diligence, modeling, etc. I'm assuming you didn't take many quant courses in university? If not, then a good quant score is even more important. You can make up for some of your lack of quant skills by taking a supplemental course (e.g., stats, calc, accounting) before you apply but most schools would still prefer a good GMAT quant score (i.e., 45+). I do think getting close to 700 would be ideal with your work experience being lower. If you're below average on both work experience and GMAT, then it makes your chances much harder to predict. Waiting to apply until you have both a strong score and a bit more work experience would be your safest bet, but I know there are probably other factors that make you want to apply sooner.
