my 2 cents, I agree with you on OA, but I am not so sure about the link. Many times you see questions repeated very often. If there is no pointed question from the poster on the concept & if there is there is a place in this forum with detailed discussion, I think by posting the link it would actually help us conserve everybodies time. Should the person still has any specific question he/she can always repost. Having said that I do see your point.
Point noted, Praveen. It's quite a temptation to click on the link immediately before attempting to reason out the question; but I do get your point. Moreover, the link might point to additional perspectives / arguments which might have been put forth for the question by previous responders.
I take my words back on posting the link, but please consider not posting OA's alongwith the original question.
This has been discussed in the past. Provide the link only if it has been recently discussed. If the question has not been posted for 3 weeks+, many members should get the chance to answer it first, and the OA be posted second, before those links be provided.
I agree with not posting the OA in the original message. However I am wondering if you can suggest a specific number of days, like the 2-3 mentioned in the previous post, by which the OP should give the OA.
Though I appreciate the time given for members to discuss the question and come to their own conclusion, it is a little frustrating when the OA is not posted until a few weeks after the question is posed.
Another thing I am getting lost is, I have no way of keeping track when I get an OA eventually or the ones that I have looked into vs the ones I have not..
I wish there was a way of marking messages for us users..
or have something like newsgroups, where I can delete the message in my folder, if I have finished reading it, or moving it out..

There is a very good solution for this for now...
On every page you will see, "Watch this topic for replies" link at the bottom on left side, use it to keep track. You will get mail about replies to that topic.
Hope this helps...
