Hello,
I am planning to apply to bschools worldwide, prefereably USA, Denmark, Ireland, Canada and a particular school that I am curious about - IPADE, mexico city.
I am what many would call, a non traditional mba applicant which is a rarity in India. I worked for Make A Difference(MAD) ngo for the last 2 years of my bachelor degree in Engineering(computer science), facilitated the visit of michelle obama to our center. I was a part of the public relations team.
After my undergraduate degree, I applied and got selected for Gandhi fellowship, funded by UNESCO. In that, I experienced first hand leadership and field work experience towards rural development and making village schools, a better place to study by working with the headmasters. I was paid a stipend of 15k for the duration of the fellowship, which was of two years.
After that, I volunteered for a prominant NGO in vietnam called "Coins for change", where I taught english to poor kids and single mothers, for a mere stipend of 200$ per month for the duration of one year.
Currently, I have an option to join Atlas Corps for their program in Bogota, Colombia or go straight towards MBA.
Am I the right candidate for applying to reputed bschools or any other mid level ones in the world for that matter?
I want to further my career and advance towards non-profit managerial roles. However, all the good bschools focusing on nonprofit management are either in US or UK, where the visa rules won't allow me to secure a job(I heard non profits rarely sponsor visa for international candidates).
So, I am thinking about making a transition to the for profit industry. How would I be able to do that post MBA? Please suggest locations and universities regarding the same.
Will my work experience count for most bschools?
Extra curriculars include : Winner of regional level football tournament and athletics, lead singer, guitarist and founder of a local band which performed in bars and charity events, Distinction in Business English Certificate(BEC) exam, conducted by Cambridge university, long serving member of my catholic school church choir and performed at several national conventions.
Also, I have a valid GRE score of 322(v: 160 q: 162), which I took 4 years ago but I don't know how that ranks in comparison to GMAT. Could you please confirm that for me?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
P.S : I know spanish language on an intermediate level. Also, I am in the the starting stages of learning Danish. Learning languages comes natural to me.

Re: your question about GMAT vs GRE scores, Poets & Quants has a great article that shows the average GRE scores for many top programs. You may find this helpful in evaluating your candidacy. Given your demographic, my suggestion would be to look for schools where your quant and verbal scores are a bit above the school's averages: https://poetsandquants.com/2016/05/09/av ... schools/3/
From what I can tell, you have three years of post-university experience, so I think it's a fine time to try and apply to MBA programs. You don't mention your GPA in university but my assumption is that it's relatively high and there is no cause for concern.
As a start, perhaps look at schools in the US like Indiana, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. My gut says that Notre Dame will find the service-based nature of your background interesting, but your application is all in the execution.
