Hi
SantoshN, glad that you are thinking ahead. First, I highly recommend you download and read our start-to-finish MBA admissions guide, especially reading the chapter of Fundamentals of an MBA Candidacy, as that will answer many of your questions at this stage.
https://shop.mbamission.com/products/mb ... ions-guideIn terms of your profile, most MBA students have around 5 years experience when they start, so you definitely do not need to rush on applying. Take time to build your career profile -- gain leadership experiences, hopefully a promotion, determine/research your post MBA goals, etc. And you can also use that time to add / expand extracurriculars. Keep volunteering but also raise your hand for a bigger role -- plan an event, join a committee, etc.
Lastly, if you have an average GPA, then a high GMAT is important. Aim for 730+ if you want to be able to target top programs. Once you have your GMAT score, then you can narrow in on programs that will be competitive. Program selection depends on other factors too like your career goals and curriculum preferences, but GMAT scores are a good proxy for competitiveness.
Hope that helps as you get started!
