I did a series of 10 blog tips on preparing for around 1. They are on my website and I think it would benefit you to read through them, to see where you might be able to make some tweaks to strengthen your profile. This is the content I actually mention to clients as well. There are few things you can do, but you might want to apply next year instead of this year. Or go for later deadlines and then reapply if needed, something like that. There a lot of things you can do, it's just a matter of doing them. Breaking out of where you're stuck.

Hello everyone,

I am planning to apply for IIMB EPGP R2 this year; and it will be great if I can talk to current students, alumni to get a better understanding of the program and its prospects.

I would like some feedback on my potential chances based on my profile:

I have around 7.5 years work ex in the industry. Working as a Tech Lead at a product development MNC and looking for a role change.
I make short films on social topics for fun.

I have 2 MS degrees with research exp from USA along with work exp from the US. I was wondering if IIMB considers academic research exp as work exp because then I will have around 10.

GMAT score : 720 (Q49, V 40) AWA : 5 and IR 3
I am a bit worried about the IR, can someone experienced let me know if it might negatively impact my chances during the admission process?

Looking forward to your reply

Thanks

Hi Akundu,

With 7.5 years work experience, you fall well within the range of the IIMB class range. Keep the MS as research experience, not work experience, because IIMB wasn't very benevolent to people with 10+ years work experience in their round 1 applications this year.

A low IR should not be a problem- your overall score is good and b-schools aren't really looking at IR as yet.

I think where you will need to do real convincing is why you need an MBA after having two masters degrees already.
