Hi All,

I was wondering if any of you could kindly help with the required GMAT range for a successful one-year MBA application in India for the below programs -

PGPX at IIM-A
EPGP at IIM-B
MBAEx at IIM-C
PGP-BL at IIM-K
EPGP at IIM-I
IPMX at IIM-L
PGP at ISB
PGDM(GM) at XLRI
PGPM at SPJIMR
PGDM-ExP at IMT Ghaziabad

My Education Details -

10th (CBSE) 2012 - 9.4/10
12th (CBSE) 2014 - 87.4/100
B.Tech(Computer Science and Engineering) from Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar 2018 - 8.69/10

My Work Experience -

I currently have 5.5 YOE, all in Infosys Limited, Bhubaneswar. I have been working for the same client since the beginning (the fruit in MAANG). I have received 4 back to back promotions in my career till date and am currently a Technology Lead (just below Project Manager). I have also been rated Commendable (2nd best) 3 years in a row. I have been considered for the H1B visa since March 2022 but have been quite unsuccessful in the lotteries.

Volunteer Experience -

I was a Student Member in both the Computer Society of India and the Indian Society for Technical Education during my college years and arranged several tech seminars.

EC -

I am a history buff and love reading novels. I aspire someday to publish one/several military/political fiction thriller novel(s) of my own and am on multiple discussion forums.

Short Term Goals -

I aspire to be a tech PM in a MAANG company or a tech/management consultant in the Big 4/MBB.

Long Term Goals -

I aspire to eventually become an executive at any of the above companies.

I would appreciate any advice any of you have for my profile.

Hi AnandKumarPandey,

Thanks for your query.

If you are targeting the likes of IIM A, B, C, you should be targeting a score in excess of 720 on the GMAT, especially considering your tech background; of course, no score guarantees an admit; however, one can look at this as some sort of a benchmark.

Hope this helps.

All the best!

Hello AnandKumarPandey,

I hope you are doing well. Here's a breakdown of the required GMAT range for a successful one-year MBA application in India for the programs you've mentioned:

PGPX at IIM-A 697 650 - 750
EPGP at IIM-B 680 650 - 750
MBAEx at IIM-C 700 650 - 740
PGP-BL at IIM-K 690 650 - 730
EPGP at IIM-I 690 650 - 720
IPMX at IIM-L 720 680 - 770
PGP at ISB 713 650 - 750
PGDM(GM) at XLRI 650 600 - 700
PGPM at SPJIMR 675 650 - 720
PGDM-ExP at IMT Ghaziabad 675 650 - 720

These are just average and recommended GMAT scores. Your actual chances of admission will depend on a variety of factors, including your overall profile, essays, and recommendations.

Your academic record is strong, with a consistent upward trend from your 10th grade to your B.Tech. Your work experience is also impressive, with 5.5 years of work at Infosys and a consistent track record of promotions. Your volunteer experience and extracurricular activities are relevant to your field of study and demonstrate your leadership and communication skills.

Overall, your profile is strong and competitive for admission to the one-year MBA programs you've mentioned. However, I would recommend aiming for a GMAT score of 700 or above to maximize your chances of success.

Here are some additional tips for strengthening your application:

Craft a compelling personal statement highlighting your unique perspective, motivations, and career goals.
Demonstrate your passion for business and management through your essays and recommendations.
