I am writing reseach proposal for chinese u of hk and i am putting MBS(mortgage backed security) pricing as my interest. I looked through the research interest of faculty and coursework requirement for phd students there and found out that only one or two faculty have research interest related to fixed income and the program has the following required courses: Fixed-income Securities Analysis ,and Real Estate Finance & Investment .
I wonder if that means one of the faculty will be able to direct me in this feild. MBS is very new to asia although it is more than 30 years old in the states.
If none of the faculty will be able to direct me. Then I have to re-write my proposal to match their research ineterst. Please help. Do you think every program will have one of the faculty specialized in this field?
