Researchers did a study about the spread of disease X in a small village of the South Vietnam. Disease X mostly came from the consumption of water from any river that contains a certain bacteria. According to the finding, there were 350 women and 425 men who were infected by the disease. The researchers concluded that men must be more susceptible to the disease.

Which of the following, if true, would most strengthen the researchers' conclusion?

(A) Most men got drinking water for the whole village from the nearby river.

I could not help but answer this "vietnam" question :lol: Only C sets the reference group equal so that we can draw the conclusion from the numbers given

I pick C. If the number of men and and that of women are the same, then according to the study, a greater percentage of men are infected.

(A) Doesn't explain why more men became infected.

(B) actually weakens the argument. These men's immune systems might have been weakened by the time spent at war.

(D) We are concerned about the consumption of water, not the approximity to it.

(E) Doesn't explain anything.

Yes, it may be a little bit biased, nothing is perfect. POE still yields (C) anyway.

Although i picked (C), i think the words in (C) could be better phrased to avoid the vagueness in the sentence. Like number of men is the same as number of women ...where?
