I think something is wrong with this question. IMO D.

It is a question of find alternative explanation wherein the original explanation in the question for difference in attendance of gym is the more aware a gym patron is about the cost of a pass, the more likely that patron is to use it i.e - the more a patron feels the "pinch" for money spent the more likely he or she is to attend the gym.

A. The price of each pass was slightly cheaper for those who bought all five passes ahead of time. This strengthens the original explanation - people who bought bulk passes spent less and hence feel a smaller "pinch"
B. Many people who visit the gym don't continue to attend regularly for longer than three months. This is off topic but could be an alternative explanation as to why "all people"
stop attending the gym vs. different types of passes related attendance. So weak answer choice.
C. The theater will probably be cleaner if snacks are banned completely than if patrons are only permitted to have one snack. Unrelated to the question!
D. Patrons will not simply bring snacks from home if the snack bar is not installed in the lobby. Unrelated to the question!
E. The theater's primary concern should be to maintain a clean environment.Unrelated to the question!

A:- slightly cheaper doesn't make lot of cost difference so eliminate
B:- Out of scope as they will continue or not doesn't matter
C:-Again out of scope this option doesn't show any impact on conclusion
D:- correct as If they purchase immediately before they know how much money they spend just now and this will finally conclude the same.
E:-out of scope.
