Living in NYC, have been to SF.

Honestly both are quite garbage. If you're coming to visit NYC, don't come in the summer, and don't come in the months of December-March. Honestly, that only leaves you with 4-5 months out of the year to visit, but the weather is so awful in the winter, and there are just too many tourists in the summer; you'll really ruin your own trip if you visit during one of those aforementioned months.

I also happen to think Boston is kind of a waste of time as well, as is Miami. Personally, I like Philadelphia, Washington DC, and LA
