Hi,
At the moment, I am in a very challenging situation. I have worked in the banking and investment industry and amid my R2 applications someone in my family is doing very unwell. I feel obliged to help and on the other side I have my job / R2 application obligations. Also, I should note that I cannot mention my MBA applications to my current employer.
Please if you can give me your advice. I appreciate your help.

You should do what you believe is right. If taking care of a family member is urgent then do that, because you will never want to regret this later.
If you have the option of taking unpaid leave, you should first exercise that.
If there is a need, you can explain the circumstances for quitting your job or taking a long leave in your MBA applications (there is an optional essay for explaining extenuating circumstances)
