I know there's a separate thread for resumes, but I figured that I'd put it here.
How would you handle Teach for America-type programs if you taught beyond the length of the program? That is, TFA is a two-year commitment, but I taught for an extra three years beyond my term in the program. I want to convey that I was in the program for two years but a teacher for five total. Should I put TFA as a separate position and my other three years as their own position? Someone recommended that I include it as a bullet line ('Was selected for...' or something like that). Does anyone have any experience with dealing with this on a resume? I don't want to make it sound as though I did the program for the entirety of teaching, but I also don't want to make it sound like I was promoted (when in fact I was a regular, 'normal' teacher the whole time, I just came into the profession through the program and continued after it was done).

Hey there,
TFA should be it's own section and then, for the position as a teacher, your first bullet could mention that you were selected for that position. But they are two separate things and you do want to show that progression and growth. Hope that helps!

List them out as 2 separate positions on your resume to properly convey your career progression. Schools have experience working with applicants from TFA so this will clear up any potential questions they have about your experience.
