As for when I will apply, I need a score I like first!

A 650 would have gotten you in at Yale? I want to apply to Yale and I have a 650 right now. I'm sitting for it again July 17th and am hoping (like so many others) to join the 700 Club.

What is the rest of your profile like? It would really help me to get an idea of what Yale is looking for.

I took the GMAT twice.
My highest score was 590
I applied to Yale and Fuqua
I ended up waitlisted at Yale and Fuqua, but I needed a 650 to get off the waitlist.
I would like to apply to Tuck, Yale and Fuqua in the future.
I would like to take the test by October 15, 2008.
My target score is 680. If I could score 700, I would be ecstatic!

I don't think a 650 would have gotten me into Yale.
They are looking for students who are stronger on the GMAT, since they have such a small class, but I think it would have made me more competitive than the 590.
Still, I gather they are looking for students who are at the top of their game So, consider how you could make yourself absolutely outstanding in your extracurricular activities or professional choices as well.

Students who did not get into Harvard or Stamford consider Yale, so they score 680's and above. Students are scoring 720s and higher, but a 680 or 700 would definitely get you noticed. As for my profile, I am a high-school teacher and teacher coach in an urban school district and my career plans were rather unique for the not-for-profit sector.

If there is anything else you need to know, please ask.
