So yesterday I took the GMAT for the 3rd time and ended up with the same score as my second attempt (from 2 years ago), 640. Now I know this isn't a terrible score, but it is extremely frustrating because I was averaging about 700 on all of the practice tests I was taking including
MGMAT, Kaplan, and Princeton Review. In the final practice tests I took from GMAT prep I received a 700 and 710.
I feel that I can get a higher score and I haven't scored as low as a 640 on any of my practice tests since I began studying this time around! I just don't know if I should take it again, a 4th time, or just move on and adjust the schools I am applying to accordingly (next tier down). Here is a breakdown of my first 3 attempts:
1st Try: Took while I was still in college in 2006 to get a "feel" of the test. I wasn't sure if I even wanted to go to B school back then, so needless to say I didn't prepare as much as I should have. Score- 620.
2nd Try: Took over a month to seriously prepare for the exam and worked with Princeton Review books and some extra online resources. I was scoring high 600's-low 700's on all of my practice tests for a couple of weeks before my exam. Score- 640.
3rd Try: 2 years after my second attempt I have a clear vision of my goals for B school, what programs I want to apply to, and where I want to progress to after. I studied a decent amount again from various resources, a lot of it seemed like a refresher. I was encouraged by all of my scores in the 700's from timed practice tests. Ready to get a score close to these (atleast high 600's!). Score-Q:40 V:37 T:640. A real kick to the...
