Ap2190 - Yes, you can purchase an ESR even though you canceled your score. Please login to mba.com and visit your "My Account" page. In the past GMAT exams, you'll see an option to "Enter ESR Code". Click on the link and you'll notice a purchase option: Purchase an activation code.

Hi, thanks for the quick response. I'll definitely check out the link.
Is the ESR something I can still purchase even though I've cancelled my score?

Hi Ap2190,

I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. I see that you are not happy with your 650; however, given that your practice test scores ranged from 620 to 690, 650 (on the real GMAT) is not a total disaster, right?

Regarding how to move forward, I tend to agree with your assessment of your situation, and feel that, if you can put in some effective prep, you can improve your GMAT score to close to or above 700 in a reasonable amount of time. Certainly, if you’d like any specific advice on how to improve your quant and verbal skills, free free to reach back out.

Also, you may find it helpful to read this article about How to Score a 700+ on the GMAT — A Mini Guide for Success.

Hi Ap2190,

First off, a 650/Q47 is a solid Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. That having been said, there's no harm in continuing to study - and you have the opportunity to pick up some serious points in both the Quant and Verbal sections.

You're actually closer to a 700+ than you probably realize. GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, your recent CAT score results - along with your Official Score - show that you essentially performed the same each time (about 670 +/- a few points). You handle certain aspects of the GMAT consistently well, but you also make certain consistent mistakes. Right now, you do NOT need to be focused on "700 level" questions; you need to be focused on learning and practicing the proper Tactics so that you do not let any of the 'gettable' questions slip past you on Test Day.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on your timeline and your goals:

1) What application deadlines are you currently considering?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

While the Enhanced Score Report doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Hi Rich, thanks for your message.
I agree with you on making certain consistent mistakes, which is why I've been rather reluctant to spend too much time on 700 level questions.

With regards to your questions:

1) I'm looking to submit my applications by R2 for primarily the three schools listed in my OP. U of T Jan 7th, McGill Jan 15th and Yorke Feb 1st. Ideally I'd like to give the GMAT around the 3rd week of November.
2) I'd say I could do about 3 hours a day on a weekday, more if I'm pushed for time. On a weekend, I can do from 5-8 hours a day depending on how productive I am.

Hi sorry for the multiple posts, but I was unable to attach my ESR.
It seems like I got a Q47, V31 and still a 650 which doesn't seem to be possible based on the scoring grid.
