Hi,
I was very lucky to get admitted (full time MBA) to both school with half tuition scholarship. Price difference between the two is not much (I’ll save +15K/year if I choose foster).
I am an international woman, older applicant (30-35). I want to recruit in a large Tech as product manager in a company that sponsor internationals for visa. Amazon is in my radar, but I am also interested in the other large tech harder to get into (Google, Apple, Salesforces, netflix). And i am also exploring roles in marketing/strategy/business operations.
Also, I want to work in Seattle. Foster does make sense for networking proximity. I am concerned about MBA ranking / long term brand years from now for new career opportunities.
Also my SO lives in Seattle with our cats, and we have been separated for 2 years already because of Covid and more personal reasons.
Please help !

Congratulations! Obviously Ross > Foster in terms of the program size, brand, and student body nationally but not so much in Seattle. I don't mean that Foster is amazingly supersedes Ross and there is a warp of space or rankings but that your opportunities become more equaled out and job search /network are comparable and while the pull of Foster is not as strong, I feel being on the ground near Amazon, Microsoft, FB, Google, and others is a strong benefit and if you can pass an interview with those recruiters, it does not matter as much which MBA program you went to as long as your experience checks out.
In other words, I think it makes sense for you to let 8 ranking spots drop and matriculate into Foster.
Your SO and their network will likely assist you with recruiting and internship finding.

I think the answer sounds pretty obvious as you have a bias for Seattle. Personally as a matriculating student at UW's TMMBA program starting this fall, I find Foster to be very underrated and underappreciated for how much success they've had in placing students in tech roles after graduation. In addition, Foster is in a tech hub city and Ross doesn't have such a reputation for tech. Also since your bf is there it would do wonders for your quality of life to have a support network and place to stay on top of your peer network and home campus.
