Just finished taking the GMAT again. First time, I got a 680 and I walked out knowing I could have done better. Unfortunately, I had the same feeling again, but I do have some comfort knowing that i'm in the 700 club. I think if i was able to take the test again tomorrow, I'd score in the 730-750 range. Here are my thoughts
the Quant section
- seemed easier this time around compared to last time. I was worried that I was missing questions because a couple questions took less than 10 seconds to solve.
- I continued to have bad clock management. I felt totally comfortable at question 15, but at question 30, i was in a rush. By biggest flaw is double checking problems when I felt that I had enough time. Its much better to trust your instinct and have room at the end to finish out. I also was sloppy in my calculations on one problem and probably spent an extra 2 min on it. Each minute is very valuable so I probably should have taken the time instead of scribbling.
the Verbal section
- this section seemed harder than before and I actually didnt finish the test on-time. I usually have like 5 min left in practice tests.
For prep, the first time around, I took the Princeton Review. The second time, I took Kaplan. Kaplan - I feel is the better overall program with better materials. The practice tests and study materials are comparable to the gmat and they have a more sophisticated website and tools. My teacher was better at PR though. I dont think I learned too much in the class, but having the class, forces me to study since I am pretty undisciplined on my own.
My practice tests for Kaplan were as follows
T1 = 700, T2 = 710, T3 = 650, T4 = 780, T5 = 710
