Hi All,
I will be applying to 3 schools in the final round as it took me some time to get the GMAT out of the way and get my target score. I have read several blogs stating that the best way forward for a final round applicant is to use the optional essay to state why they were late with their application. Any one has any inputs on this and whether I can state the GMAT as a reason for late submission ? Or will it look poor on my part ? I am an international applicant.

I don't recommend writing that the GMAT delayed your application, leading to a round three submission. Agree with the above, this will definitely look poorly. There is an old saying that goes something like, "your lack of planning does not create an emergency for me." Have you considered just waiting until next year? Taking the time to put together a more compelling application and giving yourself some more experience will not hurt.
