s = [2,3,6,12..]
Why did you took multiple of 2 & 3 in the respective sets?

because of this property - when x and y are in the sequence, x*y is in the sequence

Not this. Above ones. (2,-2,-4....)
Apology for not mentioning earlier.

:lol: not sure why you say I took the multiples. I did not took the multiples of 3 & 2 in respective statements.
May be I should have worded it properly - we do not know whether 3 is in the set S.
if 3 is present then set will have 12 otherwise set will not have 12. similarly same logic applies to statement 2

if you have 2 in sequence then you also have -2 in sequence. So, d= 2-(-2)=4
so the sequence becomes -2(-x),2(x),6(y),12(xy)
this tells me that 12 is in sequence so ans can be A or D
if you have 3 in sequence then you also have -3 in sequence. So, d=3-(-3)=6
-3(-x),3(x),9(y),27(xy)
so 12 is not in the sequence so ans is D

but the statements are no way implying that x and/or y is 2/3?? how can we just randomly start equating x and y to 2/3 and the numbers that they generate from the rules of x/y?
