Dear reader,
I am writing this post to share my experience at Sacred Heart University- Jack Welch College of Business, Luxembourg.
It has been 1 year (when I am writing this) since I arrived in this lovely country to do my MBA at Sacred Heart University- Jack Welch College of Business. My journey till now has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. I was determined to go to Canada to pursue my Masters, but luckily, I came across this University which is one of its kind offering a full time MBA with internship program. The best thing about the course is you do not lose your valuable work experience during the time you do your Masters.
For me, I landed an internship interview 2 weeks after my arrival to Luxembourg. Eventually, I ended up joining a Financial services company a month later and was able to convert that to a full time job offer right after finishing my internship. Even though I am already in the course planning to graduate this December, I have started working as a full time employee. The University provided valuable guidance in terms of building the CV, mock interview preparations among others. With its Corporate contacts, the University is able to provide additional help to students to find an internship in their field of interest. In our batch and the previous batch, 100% of the students got an internship and everyone had a job in hand either during the MBA program or right after finishing the program.
Coming to education, the courses offered are really good which challenge the potential of the students. The courses are taken by professors who are experts in that particular field and most of them work in the same industry with a large Institute for the courses they take. I specially loved all the Finance and Accounting related courses as my background is in Finance. There are other required courses such as Professional planning for example which provide a very different view of the global business environment and further aim to build the personality of each individual taking up the course. With various entrepreneurship courses, regular presentations, team building activities and team assignments, additional useful reads plus an internship, the workload of the course is just a little short of heavy but is highly manageable. In terms of self development, there are students from dozens of nationalities who are from various age groups (22 to 45 in our class), work for various sectors (Finance, Marketing, IT, HR, Procurement, Manufacturing, etc) and hold various positions in their companies (Analysts, Managers and Directors in my class).
Talking about Luxembourg, as you might have already read, it is one of the best countries to live in the world. Luxembourg city (where the University is located) is at the heart of Luxembourg with its highest population. The country as such is the safest out of the 230 countries used as an index for personal safety in the world. It boasts of the 2nd highest percapita income in the world. Luxembourg being so small, there are people from over 170+ nationalities involving activities of over 29000+ companies. The public transport is amazing and the proximity of the city to other bigger hubs within Europe is just unmatchable. The Schengen visa again has its own worth which allows a visa free travel to over 25 countries in the European Union. The Social Security offered of the Government is brilliant and the country as such has one of the best work-life balances in the world.
I am really happy and proud of myself to have decided to come to Luxembourg to do my MBA at the Sacred Heart University. I have not been incentivized by the University to write this post; this is all from my own experiences. For someone who was searching for true reviews and feedback on universities about 1.5 years ago, I am writing this post just for the future batch of students planning to arrive in Luxembourg and hopefully choosing Sacred Heart University. All the best!
