Hello everyone, my first post here.
I tried to search this forum and other forums about some feedback or experiences regarding those two schools but I haven't found anything detailed to be honest and would appreciate any help from here.
I would like to ask for your opinions on Master's in Finance in SAIF (Shanghai) and WU (Vienna).
I can see in this forum that they're not on top of students' priority lists but they're both ranked in the top 20 (SAIF #1 in Asia for MS Finance) and having read through their websites, they seem to have an interesting curriculum and in line with other top schools in Finance. Their employment reports are also impressive. Should I pay attention to rankings? For example, WU is not in FT ranking but is #18 in QS, while SAIF is #13 in FT and #58 in QS (Master in Finance ranking).
I know that one should consider where they want to live when considering universities for Master's, and Shanghai is attractive to me (I lived in China before) while Vienna would also be no issue for me as I've been living in Europe the last few years.
1) For those in the know or those who are currently enrolled there, how are job prospects for a foreigner graduating from either of those programmes bearing in mind that I can speak German fluently and intermediate Chinese?
Shanghai is the financial centre of China so from my point of view that should be a big draw and offer plenty of opportunities. Can someone clarify this point? Is it the same for Vienna also?
2) From my research, SAIF appears to be a target school for the top companies in Shanghai, is that also true or they will always prefer someone graduating from abroad?
3) What are the chances that I get accepted to either of them? Especially the scholarship from SAIF?
A bit more about myself, I'm Egyptian, but I did GCSE's A-Levels and finished my Bachelor's degree in International Management (1.7 in German grading system) in Germany. I have 2 years working post-uni experience in accounting in a F500 company in Prague, Czech Republic. I also have a few internships in Cairo, Dubai and Munich. Now I would like to switch careers from accounting and would like to pursue a Finance Master's degree. Speak 3 languages fluently + learning Chinese. I will sit for my GMAT exam next month, hopefully will get 670+.
Thank you in advance!
