On the exam day I would have selected A.

I prefer C, mostly because the part preceeding the comma. The 'it' in A is sloppy and inprecise. The cornerstone part is crisp and effective, too

IMO, (C) is preferable to (A) because the "prescriptions" - the point being discussed here follows immediately after the comma.

"as is the case" is usually peferred over "as it is" in GMAT English.

Even if you can elimiate all other answer choices down to a 50-50 guess, you still need to master the SC/CR/PS/DS concept being tested. Sharp arrow, this one should go straight to your ---> " :computer log."

Between A and C.

Will prefer C.

In A, it is not necessary in the first phrase.

Also C compares better
