For many people, household labor remains demanding even if able to afford household appliances their grandparents would find a miracle.

(A) even if able to afford household appliances their grandparents would find a miracle
(B) despite being able to afford household appliances their grandparents would find a miracle
(C) even if they can afford household appliances their grandparents would have found miraculous
(D) although they could afford household appliances their grandparents would find miraculous
(E) even if they are able to afford household appliances which would have been a miracle to their grandparents

IMO E.

A, B missing "they" so unclear who is able of afford.
D is out as there is no contrast intended.
Between C and E. I go for E, because it makes clear that appliances are miracle to the grandparents.

(A) even if able to afford household appliances their grandparents would find a miracle (wrong if construction)
(B) despite being able to afford household appliances their grandparents would find a miracle (being)
(C) even if they can afford household appliances their grandparents would have found miraculous
(D) although they could afford household appliances their grandparents would find miraculous (could is wrogn here; can would be better)
(E) even if they are able to afford household appliances which would have been a miracle to their grandparents (is wordier than C; also C used CAN which is more concise

IMO C

:( why not D since could represents uncertainty like would .

I know the correct answer is C. But, unfortunately, I chose D as well. I cast doubt on C because it does not follow the the 3rd condition sentence.

Why is "being" in B wrong? "would have" and "would have been" in C and E respectively make it sound as if grandparents are not around.

OA please?

To me, B is wrong because of the phrase 'would find a miracle' as soon as I spotted that I moved on.

IMO, C, this was one of those that just 'sounded right' to me, plus I was able to spot errors in ALL other choices.
