Should be B:

substitute x for y...

D is wrong as Mr Lemnondill's emphasis is incorrectly modifying the previous phrase..

E for me

Prefer X to Y
Low-contact team sports is not parallel with "dangerous"..no need of this adjective
I believe Substitute X with Y or Substitute X for Y are both correct.

Like other physical education instructors who prefer substituting low-contact team-oriented athletics to dangerous "full-impact" sports, Mr. lemondill emphasizes how important it is to play nonviolent games.[/m]

A) to dangerous "full-impact" sports, Mr. Lemondill emphasizes how important it is to play
substituting A to B is incorrect
B) for dangerous "full-impact sports, Mr. Lemondill emphasizes the importance of playing
correct.. substituting A for B is correct..
C) to dangerous "full-impact" sports, Mr. Lemondill emphasizes that it is important to play
substituting A to B is incorrect
D) for dangerous "full-impact" sports, Mr. Lemondill's emphasis is that it is important to play
The modifying phrase can not modify the possessive subject (Mr. Lemondill's emphasis ).It should be Mr Lemondill..
E) to "full-impact sports, Mr. Lemondill's emphasis is on the importance of playing
substituting A to B is incorrect ...

IMO B

I think its E. X to Y or "prefer...to" is ok.

"Like other instructors.....Mr. Lemondill's emphasis is on" is the correct usage.

Correct me if I am wrong.
