A is the only parallel choice

use of "whose" seems to refer to televison rather than children, so B and D are OUT

E seems to say that television is with history

C is not parallel because it compares children and history.

"B" will be the best if it had "and" as the first word in underlined portion...still "B" is better for now.

"Whose" refer to what??
This is the first question came in my mind.
But I discovered that "whose" is clearly refering to "children".
"whose" can not refer television because television can not have families with history of nearsightedness.

So B.

I think it is A too. Notice the end of the sentence has "in these ways". So there have to more than one reason. 1) watch television and 2) have a history of in family.
Making it one sentence with "whose" will conflict with "these ways".

B. you are correct. it has a typo error as kaplan forgot to underline the ACs properly..
