Welcome to GMAT Club! As mainhoon pointed out, there is no correlation between the number of questions you get right and the scaled score apart from a general increasing trend. For instance, my Quant score on GMAT Prep was a 49 but I had 11 questions wrong.

Try to search the forum for the GMAT scores thread. You might get a little more clarity on how it might work. But meanwhile, try to focus your attention to understanding the proper strategies to attack the verbal section.

On that note though, it is possible that X and Y get a different score with exactly the same splits in V and Q. And the difference can be 10 points. I hope it is not more than that. I saw this happen with me and willneverquit - 710 and 720 with same Q50 V37... This tells me that GMAC does not think much of a 10-20 point difference
