It really comes down to how much the funds matter to you and your current situation. If the gap is not too sizeable (and it's not clear what the total cost is for Marshall that you're estimating), you're always better off with the better known, higher-ranked program. The quality of alumni, job opportunities, available resources, etc. will be theoretically better and are thus part of the value of the degree.

If you want to look at this way, do you want to get a free $50 item or $50 off of a $100? Will the $100 item last longer? Will it bring your more happiness? etc.

It's not an easy decision at all, but our advice would be to take Marshall for the long play.

FYI, you just might be able to go back to Marshall and see if they can close the gap between their offer and what MSU and GT are offering. They might not match but could offer you more money. You never know...

Congrats and good luck in your decision,
Admissionado

Congrats on your admits!

If you are looking for SCM, Broad is a great program and you really don't need to worry about Marshall.
However it would be awesome to have your first year of Living expenses covered! That's great to have a very liberating in case you do need to head home for some reason or not get a job right away (though it can make you complacent).

I need to poke around the Broad Employment reports to see how much their career services is worth.

Admissionado Nikhil thanks for your insights.

Admissionado I am planning to write to Marshall to see if scholarship can be stretched. But my post MBA goal is better realized at MSU or Scheller I think.

Nikhil I agree 100% with your thoughts, hence the confusion.

While Eli Broad is an amazing program, it isn't STEM and being an international student that's something worrying.

Can you get a supply chain/Ops Alumni to comment here if possible.

Yes, Scheller isn't STEM. But doing a MS alongwith MBA( dual degree) can grant you STEM there. Also, the tution fee for the MS program will be waived off for me.

So, while Broad isn't STEM, Scheller gives you a way to get STEM.

Got it. Thank you for the helpful tidbit of information - I have learned something new!
Also, Scheller is working on Stem certification and supposed to have it approved in Spring 2022 (not guaranteed however) but if you can have it via the MS route, that's a great option. I would not hesitate taking the Scheller scholarship + STEM option.

Yes. Thanks for your insights.

I still have almost 20 days to make a decision. Will reach out to more Alumni's and people who can give a good perspective

20 days it’s not a whole lot but hopefully people are free and bored during the holidays. Should not be too hard to get a hold of the current students. Good luck with your decision!

If your career goal is better served at MSU and GT, then that evens the scales against Marshall when it comes to better fit and value.

Besides ranking/reputation, why would you pick Marshall? Ranking/reputation is, as we all noted, very important but it's not the only criteria. Look at the difference say between Kellogg and Wharton, both two well-known schools. Wharton is technically higher ranked and many would argue the more prestigious school but if you wanted to go into marketing you could do no better than Kellogg. That seems like an appropriate comaprison.

Good luck and congrats,

Admissionado Right. Now I think you understood the scenario.

Seeing my post MBA goal Scheller seems a better option.

If I had to maneuver into consulting/IB, Marshall would easily win.
