I was looking for some tips for scholarship negotiation. I have been awarded 10k to HEC Paris with a GMAT of 780. I also have an admit to INSEAD Singapore - scholarship decision yet to come. I was really hoping for a scholarship of 30 to 40k given my GMAT score and international work experience of 8 years and being a women candidate with strong extracurricular interests as well.

Congratulations for both admits..
Its not clear which school is your first preference
First thing to decide will be school and then negotiate with school of your choice accordingly for fee.

Hi there! Given your profile and that it is still R1, it really makes sense to negotiate for more. You've clearly established merit with a 780, it'd do you well to tackle the 'need' angle, if possible. Adcoms do realize that with your profile you have a great shot anywhere, so, subtly addressing that: the magnitude of the amount of funds you would potentially invest in your MBA is a strong consideration of yours, would hint to the adcoms that they need to shell out more to retain you.
Also, for HEC in particular, there are various external scholarships particularly from the government of France that could be well worth your attention.
