Hi all, hope this message finds you well. I'm applying for Round 3 and concerned about whether the school offers scholarships or financial aid only up until Round 2. I will be applying to Cornell, Tuck, Kellogg, Darden, and McDonough. Can you share your thoughts? Also, I am a management student working in CRM roles for 5+ years. How can I strengthen my profile? Are there any courses or certifications that I can add? Last question: What helps in getting more scholarships? I wish you all a happy New Year in advance.
Hi Syed,
Happy new year ahead!
Firstly, is it a fair concern regarding R3 since much of the money has been awarded in earlier rounds. However different schools have different protocols regarding allocation of funds, some do it purely by merit while some have round-wise quotas. It could be helpful to have a chat with someone from the admissions or financial aid offices.
Regarding your last question, although most schools say they review your profile holistically to make scholarship decisions, much can be said for the correlation between scholarships awarded and high standardised test scores. Most scholarships are "merit-based", and merit is usually judged by spikes in your profile, especially in tests.
Those scholarship $$ are a way of schools convincing you to take admission there, or in other words a measure of their confidence in your performance once you join school. Hope this perspective helps!
