Scholarships for part-time MBA students?

Question

My GF wants to go to a part-time program (possibly NYU) but some of those programs are insanely expensive (i think she said NYU is like 50K per year???). Anyway, her company only reimburses like 10K per year for schooling, and she wants to see if there are scholarships for part-timers, from both the school and outside organizations. I can't seem to find anything on NYU's website about scholarships for part-timers... do they exist? Or do other schools have part-time scholarships? Are there any outside organizations that give scholarships to part timers as well?

I think my GF is well qualified (as long as she does well on the GMAT), she was a valedictorian in her undergrad and she has a decent work history.

Generally, all part-time programs I have seen offer no scholarships, but that doesn't mean that you can't get an external one.

Keep in mind the cost difference between full time and part-time. Full-time gives up salary + tuition and expenses. That's why schools like to give them money first.

I know that Haas gives scholarship if you do your MBA in non-profit management and working for a non-profit organisation.

I believe Kellogg and Chicago both share their scholarship program with the PT group. So it's possible, it just depends on the school. PT is not gonna get all that much help in general, and they are few and far between.

Generally, the PT programs seem to be more about bringing cash into the school. Since a higher percentage of students receive some form of sponsorship through their employers, schools manage to charge a bit more for their PT programs. I think the EMBA programs are even more expensive.

The $50k per year you mentioned for NYU is for the full-time program. Part-time programs charge per course, so if you take fewer courses it'll cost less per year (I think generally the cost is about $4000-$5000 per course at the top programs) but the trade-off is it takes you longer to complete the degree.

I think most schools focus almost entirely on full-time students for scholarships, since part-time students usually have salaries and/or employer reimbursement to help defray the costs of school.
