Hi,
Indian Male Engineer here with 6 years of workex in back and mid office IB. Have decent work experience with quick growth and strong leadership positions.
I have a 740 (Q50, V39) in GMAT and a 7.0/10 cg from a top 10 institution (non IIT). Have moderate ECs and strong recos. Looking for front end IB roles post MBA.
Do I have a shot at any of the T20 colleges? Or will the low CG be a concern? I have already applied to Cornell. Looking for a safe school with strong IB pipeline.
Suggestions please.
Thanks in advance!
Rasalghul853,
As for having a shot at T20 Prog, yes you do have a decent shot, and I say that from my personal experience as well as a vast professional set of data-points. The 6 years however is just getting to be on the threshold of the higher side. In other words, missing the boat this year (and a 7+ years experience) may lead to a plunge in your chances, while other factors remain constant). The moderate ECs may be a dampener, although what I have observed we as Indians often downplay our ECs, though we have many. In a similar vein, what most of my clients have thought were strong recos, have needed to be redesigned from scratch.
Finally, all the above said and done, the GMAT score is one of the important factors for your Admission Application Decisions, but please understand, it is JUST ONE of the important factors. It's a major mistake to think that any good advice can come through providing the above information only, and even bigger a blunder to lose out on the excellent opportunities you could have access to, by applying without full information such that you end up submitting a less than powerful application.
