To be honest, my GMAT is not that high... 700
However, I am getting letters from top 25-40 schools, alluring to apply to their program with no application fee.

Claremont Graduate Univ. offered me $40,000 without reviewing my app.
I didn't even apply to this school. Texas A&M also indicated that I can get minimum of a few thousands per year.

I cannot imagine what kind of offers Pelihu has been getting with his 780 GMAT. hahaha

Hehe,

Actually I probably got the same letters as most other people. I do recall several schools saying something like "75% of the applicants with your profile last year received full scholarships". As far as I know, the only thing they actually know about my profile is the GMAT score. It's no secret that schools lower in the rankings would be happy to buy a few GMAT scores.

Yeah I received several such letter/brochures/emails!

I wonder whether the number of applicatants this year has dropped? Or this this an usual behavior all years?

I was a total snob about the whole thing. When my score came back I made sure I stayed off of every distribution and mailing list. Now I regret not getting all those litte ego boosts.

Well you don't really have much of a choice, I think they ask you if you want to receive info from schools before you get your score.

I'm considering applying to a couple more schools now that I have finished all my real apps. I guess I might even be having app withdrawal... feeling so empty without some apps to work on :?

Is Boston University any good? (note I am not talking about Boston College, they didn't give me any perks)

Would it be a challenge to get your recommenders to write additional letters if you add more schools later on? I know what you mean when you say application withdrawal. I couldn't possibly ask my recommenders to do more though.

shucks, you're right!

I hadn't even thought of that.

But it will not require much work of them. I saved all their previous rec letters and all they did for the last couple of schools was cut and paste anyway :P

But ya, at the same time, I will very glad that apps are over done with. I just need to find a new hobby and figure out where the last 4 months of my life went!
