So here is a weird thing I learned from doing MBA admissions consulting for so long and having so many clients express this same frustration, which I remember having, too. There are apparently just a few "admissions form" companies out there and so MBA programs use the same ones that undergraduate programs use. Is there customization? Clearly. But not enough, so questions like this and some other weird ones still get through. And you'll notice a lack of certain what-would-seem-to-be-popular-these-days career industry and function dropdown options, etc. They're beholden to these form developers.
Thankfully, I have it 100% confirmed from the many, many, MANY former adcom members on our staff that they don't pay attention to this in admissions decisions at all. So I hope that at least makes you fee better. And if it doesn't say it's mandatory on a form, it's not and you absolutely do NOT need to fill it in.
Hope that helps!

username625625Is it mandatory to provide such information? Honestly, these questions are uncomfortably intrusive and have a high chance of hurting rather than helping me. Not rich or privileged enough? Not poor enough? Sorry, you're out of luck.
