These type of questions look for answers within the sentence.
This is not assumption. Do not go beyond the question stem.

a) to tell how many people have been exposed to the virus - from question stem " Since it is almost impossible to detect in its early stages"
b) to stop its spread - in QS nothing about "stopping the disease"
c) to find a cure - again nothing in QS talks about "finding a cure"
d) to detect - the question does not talk about "detecting"
e) to employ research experts - "nothing about research expert"

Took 45 Seconds...
Option A suits best...

All other options are somehow possible.

Kudos if you agree.. :)

Point to be considered : One thing that should be taken into account is that one cannot go outside the scope of the argument to complete the paragraph

A. to tell how many people have been exposed to the virus ( Right Answer : In the premise part of the above argument the discussion is concentrated upon what if the virus is found to be airborne. If it is airborne they fear that hundreds of people may have already been infected by the virus but they can’t put forward an exact number.)
B. to stop its spread ( Wrong Answer : The argument nowhere discusses about halting the spread of the virus)
C. to find a cure ( Wrong Answer : The argument doesn’t talk about finding a cure )
D. to detect ( Wrong Answer : it is not like the Virus can’t be detected at all. The only thing that has been stated is it cannot be detected in its early stages )
E. to employ research experts( Wrong Answer : This is totally out of the scope of the Argument)
